2025 is the year of The Greatest Good. A fantastic, historical and life changing fundraiser will be held at the Harold Washington Library, located at 400 South State Street, Chicago Illinois. This will be an open to the public event that will raise funds for Mayor Harold Washington’s international motion picture production. We will showcase live music from accomplished and up-and coming Chicago based artists and they will perform for the entire south and west sides of the community, right on the mainstage of the Pritzker Theater. The Greatest Good day will also hold daytime activities to entertain the community youth. Morning breakfast, afternoon lunch and evening dinner will be served throughout the entire weekend and large groups of African American vendors will provide a variety of items to sell and promote their businesses to the community members. The Greatest Good fundraiser will take place over the course of 3 days: Tuesday February 25th - 27th between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM during each day.
An overwhelming attraction to an event of this nature is already deeply rooted in the many successful Chicago born/raised music artistes, politicians, doctors, lawyers, pastors, community activists, athletes and entertainers - all who were raised under Harold Washington’s leadership, and all now appeal to a wide range of people, internationally. A reasonably diverse demographic would be expected to attend the event. However, the audience profile for the event will be mainly African American. Adults will range in age from 25-100 and children from 1-16. There will be food vendors and servers available around the clock for the large family audience to enjoy. Special catering will be dedicated to more high-profile bands, keynote speakers and musicians. All guest stars booked to appear at the event will be expected to preform and speak to the audience while being recorded live.
A joint working approach in now in effect by The Avalon Regal Theater, the 99 Years Studios Entertainment Company, The Center for Education, Black History, Theater & Research and The Harold Washington Foundation. Special agreements with community names such as Congressman Danny Davis, Josie Childs, Dr. Robert Starks, Clerk David Orr, Commissioner Barbara McGowen, Howard Medley, Emma Young, Stanley Young, Rev.
